And most players are tired had they just got back from international duties. Sir Alex had to use all he has in what he call his big-good-squad.

Van der Saar

Neville - captain, reported in manutd.com started as center back. But I don't it's correct because he played at his favorite position, right back.
O'Shea - said in the same article to play right, he actually played at center back.
Evans - center back
Evra - left

Fletcher - def.mid
Carrick - att.mid
Ronaldo - right
Nani - left

Giggs - 2nd striker
Tevez - main striker

OK. At the back, we can see the weakness. It's a rare combination anyway. The young Evans + the utility O'Shea. Loose marking allowed the 2 goals of header from the Villa's striker.

United first goal came from indirect free kick. Villa's defender made a back pass, a foul awarded. Giggs rolled it for Ronaldo to place it nicely to the far post. Ronaldo's 2nd was more a lady-luck-strike. He wanted to make a shot, but missed kick it faar to the left of keeper, near the post, to score the equaliser.

Macheda was in for Nani at 60th.
Who's Macheda?? Haha
Let me describe.
He's 17. Italian. Come from United's youth. PLayed in reserve team this season, scored 10. Scored 8 in youth league. He had just scored a hat-trick 6 days ago, agains Newcastle reserve. Is he good? I say VERY! Haha.

Then Welbeck in at 86th. You heard about this sensational striker aite? OK.

Macheda had problems receiving and controlling the ball early in his game. Understandable that this is his debut game at senior level. Debut + 17 y.o. But he just needed 30 minuted to become a super star.
Giggs feed a ball to him, flicked it, curl a brilliant goal passed Friedel to the left post. Superb. Marvellous. I vote this goal is waaay better than Welbeck's debut. Haha.
Anyway, Macheda looked like Lampard. Haha.

So, if United is said to have striker problem, I think Sir Alex has the solutions already. Welbeck. Macheda. Can we forget Berbatov for now? my answer, why not?
