United Defeat 10-men Southampton

I would rate United’s overall performance as OK. They hold the possession all the way throughout the game. Opposition didn’t really threaten them. The opponent’s game was destroyed after their player got sent off. The dangerous tackle, no doubt is a red card. Somehow I feel United were too much protected through out the game. Referee sided United on few occasions, and some cards are unnecessary I think. But 3-0 is a fair reflection of how much United control the game.

Players rating
Van Der Saar
He had an easy game. There wasn’t any clear cut chance that needs him to really fly anywhere for saves.

Gary Neville
The usual him. He leads the Reds very well. Few overlaps were made.

Nemanja Vidic
He control the heart of the defence. No mistake from him.

J. Evans
This young central defender played to fill-in the vacancy of back-injured Rio Ferdinand. Although he made good display, there were times when he seems to lost his concentration. Poor passes. Untidy clearance where the ball easily given to opponent. If he plays like that against big teams, United will be in trouble.

John O’Shea
He played OK. There were few poor passes. But since no danger ever came from the side, so it never effected the team. His header brought the first goal as Welbeck headed the bounce.

Nani
He started as right wing. But as usual, United’s never stick in one position in front. So, Nani made himself shine in this game. 2 free kicks from same spot. First one gave him the penalty when he scored then. 2nd free was good, but didn’t kill a bird. He’s lively tonight.
Anderson
This boy is still unlucky. Goal seems like will never come for him as a Red. He made few long shots that went wide. Other than that, he played well in the center to keep ball moving.

Carrick
He had a decent game. There was a very obvious chance when the flick over the goalie, but defender manage to clear the ball before he hits it.

Ryan Giggs
The legend had a quiet game tonight. But no mistake. So, he’s fine.

Berbatov
I am still questioning Fergie’s relevant with this expensive purchase. He looks lazy, and did not take a shot. Common man, you are a striker. Strike! Somehow, he played well in distributing the ball around. Good job for that.

Danny Welbeck
He’s telling the world, “hey, I’m here. Your striker”. 2 senior appearances, 2 goals. What more can you ask from a young striker. Eventhough he was offside when O’Shea headed the ball. Haha. Other than that, he looks lively, like he’s been in the first team for few seasons already.

Gibson (sub Carrick)
He came and scored a scorcher. Congrats for that. Thanks to Rooney’s smart pass. But his ball control is untidy. Maybe that’s because he still nervous. So boy, lot more to learn before you can start 11.

Possebon (Sub Giggs)
He looks nervous. Seriously. His first appearance after the nasty tackle he had in Carling Cup few months back. He needs more confident and his positioning is awkward. But the possession is OK, and passes got better as time wore on.

Rooner (sub Welbeck)
Came in and made the difference in front. His brilliant pass gave Gibson’s first senior goal.

Glory Glory for quadraple!!!
